SHINee’s Key reveals he left the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 concert early due to health issues.
On January 11th and 12th KST, SM Entertainment held its ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 [THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE] in SEOUL’ at Gocheok Sky Dome to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary. However, SHINee’s Key was unable to join the finale on the second day due to health concerns.
Key had completed his solo performance earlier that evening but left the venue before the final group performance of ‘Hope’, which traditionally features all SM artists on stage. Despite his efforts to perform, fans noticed Key struggling during his ‘Gasoline’ performance, where he appeared visibly unwell. After completing the song, he was seen collapsing briefly and being assisted offstage by fellow member Minho.
Prior to the finale, Key addressed his situation through the fan communication platform Bubble. He explained, “I haven’t been feeling well since yesterday, but I managed to push through with medicine and tea. Today, I felt worse and went to the hospital. The test for influenza A came back negative, so it seems to be just a bad cold or the flu.”
He added, “This morning, I couldn’t speak at all, and I was hoping my condition would improve by the evening. However, I don’t think I’ll be able to join the stage for ‘Hope.’ I’m truly sorry to SHINee World who came to the venue and those supporting from afar. Thank you, and I’ll recover quickly and come back stronger.”
Fans expressed their concerns and wished for his speedy recovery, understanding his decision to prioritize his health.
Meanwhile, ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025’ will expand its global tour starting in May, with Key expected to return once he recovers.
