Fans seem to be divided over IVE's latest music releases.
On January 13, IVE dropped "Rebel Heart," which is a pre-release track ahead of their 3rd EP 'Ive Empathy,' set to drop on February 3. After hearing "Rebel Heart," the latest discussion began when one netizen shared in a popular online community "IVE's songs are seriously getting worse. I really miss the vibe of 'Love Dive,' 'Eleven,' and 'After Like.' Their songs have been getting worse after 'I AM'."
While some fans agree with the post and voice concerns that the group's newer releases fail to live up to their earlier hits, others argue that IVE is continuing to release strong tracks.
Korean netizens discussed:
"Even considering that it’s a pre-release track, it’s seriously so good..."
"Five of the members said that the main title track is even better, so let’s wait for the main release before judging."
"Why are there so many posts criticizing the pre-release track? It's good, lol."
"For me, the song is really good."
"I didn’t really like 'After Like'... but the song that just came out a few days ago is way better, seriously."
"I love the new song—the lyrics are touching, the melody is great, and it’s super emotional. It really captures that true K-pop vibe. It’s actually nice because no other groups are doing this kind of genre."
"Isn’t this song pretty good though? I’ve been enjoying it a lot."
"For me, 'Kitsch' is the IVE song that I never get tired of—it’s my favorite."
"It’s not bad, but it feels more like a random collab or side track rather than a proper comeback song."
"I hope they give the intro to Liz in the next title track. I still can’t get over her intro in Eleven. A blonde girl with that pure, refreshing voice singing the first line... please give Liz the opening again, it’s ear candy."
"This one feels a bit like they’re copying their own homework."
"I liked 'Eleven,' 'Love Dive,' and 'I AM,' but the rest weren’t great—'Baddie' was okay at best. IVE’s signature emotional songs just aren’t my style."
"Am I the only one who likes the new song... hmm."
"Judging by the lack of public interest after the song release, I don’t think casual listeners are seeking out their music anymore."
"Unpopular opinion, but An Yu Jin’s intro kind of kills the vibe for me, though the song itself is good."
"'I AM' really nailed IVE’s identity—it’s peak IVE. Seriously, some people just don’t get music."
