Stray Kids will once again grace the stage at the ‘2024 Billboard Music Awards’ (BBMAs), marking their second consecutive year as performers.
On December 9th (local time), the BBMAs announced via their official social media channels that Stray Kids will join the performer lineup for the event, which takes place on December 12th in Los Angeles.
This solidifies Stray Kids’ status as a “global top artist” as they perform at one of America’s three major music award shows.
At the 2024 BBMAs, Stray Kids are set to deliver high-energy performances of two of their hit songs that defined the year. The group, who last year became the first fourth-generation K-pop boy group to win the Top K-Pop Album award, has been nominated in four categories this year: Top Duo/Group, Top K-Pop Album (with two nominations), and Top Global K-Pop Artist.
Notably, Stray Kids are the only K-pop artists with two albums, ‘樂-STAR (Rock-Star)’ and ‘ATE,’ competing in the Top K-Pop Album category. They also stand alongside global artists such as Blink-182, Coldplay, Fuerza Regida, and Linkin Park in the Top Duo/Group category.
Stray Kids have demonstrated remarkable success on the Billboard charts. Starting with their 2022 mini-album ‘ODDINARY,’ followed by ‘MAXIDENT,’ ‘★★★★★ (5-STAR),’ ‘樂-STAR,’ and ‘ATE,’ they have achieved the unprecedented feat of debuting five consecutive works at No. 1 on the ‘Billboard 200.’
Stray Kids have also seen continued success at global music award shows. In September 2023, they won the Best K-Pop category at the ‘2023 MTV Video Music Awards’ with their title track ‘S-Class’ from ‘★★★★★ (5-STAR).’
This was followed by wins at the ‘2024 People’s Choice Awards’ in February and the ‘2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards’ in April.
Additionally, their song ‘SLASH,’ featured on the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine Original Motion Picture Soundtrack,’ earned a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Stray Kids will release their SKZHOP HIPTAPE project ‘合 (HOP)’ and its title track ‘Walkin On Water’ on December 13th at 2 p.m. KST (midnight EST).
