On the afternoon of November 26, the press conference for the highly anticipated Coupang Play series Family Plan was held at the Mondrian Seoul Itaewon Grand Ballroom in Yongsan, Seoul. The event saw the attendance of the main cast, including Bae Doo Na, Ryoo Seung Bum, Baek Yun Shik, Lomon, Lee Soo Hyun, and creator Kim Jung Min.
Family Plan (created by Kim Jung Min, and directed by Kim Seon and Kim Gok) tells the story of a mother with the extraordinary ability to edit memories at will, who teams up with her family to bring ruthless justice to the villains that threaten them.
Bae Doo Na transforms into the character of Young Soo, a mother with special powers who serves as the family’s problem-solver. She brings a refreshing, new charm to the role. Joining her are Ryoo Seung Bum, Baek Yun Shik, Lomon, and Lee Soo Hyun, whose captivating family dynamics and fierce retribution against ruthless criminals promise a unique, thrilling viewing experience.
The series also benefits from the creative input of Kim Jung Min, the writer behind Hush and Suits, known for her fresh ideas and plot twists that create an original world, while directors Kim Seon and Kim Gok, famous for their tension-filled direction in the movie Voice, add their signature touch to the series.
Bae Doo Na plays Han Young Soo, a mother who possesses extraordinary abilities yet remains a caring and loving mother to her children. Trained in a special task force from a young age, Young Soo has mastered brain hacking—a form of hypnosis—and uses her powers to protect her family.
Regarding her role, Bae Doo Na shared, "When I choose projects abroad, I tend to gravitate towards genres like sci-fi or fantasy, but for domestic works, I’ve mostly chosen projects that tackle social issues, like Next Sohee and Broker. This time, I wanted to do something more cathartic. In Family Plan, families are formed in ways that seem extreme, and the desire to protect family is so strong that it raises the question, 'Would you want to go this far for your family?' It's a story about running until the very end, and that resonated with me personally. I tend to choose works that have this kind of emotional impact."
The series, set to premiere on Friday, November 29 at 8 PM, will be exclusively available on Coupang Play, bringing viewers a thrilling blend of suspense, family bonds, and high-stakes action.
