Psy addresses controversy over villa seizure.
P Nation, Psy’s agency, released a statement on November 25th KST, addressing the reports about the seizure of Psy’s luxury villa in Hannam-dong, Seoul, due to unpaid fines. The agency clarified, “Psy has never made any changes or extensions to the building. He became aware of the illegal extensions done during the initial construction.”
They added, “The enforcement fine was overdue because the notice was received late, but it has now been fully paid. Psy and the other villa residents are currently preparing to hire a construction company to rectify the illegal extensions.”
This response comes after reports that Psy’s villa in UN Village was seized due to unpaid fines related to building code violations. The fines were issued as enforcement penalties for not addressing the violations for over a year.
Psy purchased the luxury villa in 2008 for approximately 2.2 billion won and lived there with his wife for 17 years. In 2020, the couple moved out, and the villa has since been rented out. Recently, a complaint regarding unauthorized expansions of the villa was filed with the Yongsan District Office.
Although the seizure was lifted in October after Psy paid the overdue fines, the rectification order remains unresolved.
