Actor Jung Woo Sung (age 51) has come under the spotlight for his past views on relationships following the recent revelation that he fathered a child out of wedlock with model Moon Ga Bi (age 35).
On November 25, an online community resurfaced an interview Jung Woo Sung gave to the fashion magazine Elle in 2004, sparking renewed interest and discussion.
In the interview, Jung Woo Sung shared his thoughts on his ideal type, stating, "I value inner charm above all else. For women, inner charm is far more important than physical features like breast size or double eyelids. The allure that comes through a single word can be incredibly strong—far more sensual than any fishnet stockings."
He also reflected on how his perspective on relationships has changed over time. He shared, "In my 20s, I didn’t view women very seriously. Back then, I was drawn not only to looks but also to a woman’s overall vibe. I have memories of sleeping with women simply because of a fleeting attraction, without delving into their inner character," candidly acknowledging past one-night stands.
In particular, Elle asked questions that seemed inappropriate for a fashion magazine. The interviewer asked, "Have you had sex in other places other than the bed?" to which Jung Woo Sung replied, "There are many. Haha. Rather than that, I have a lot of fantasies. Like bars. I want to try it in the bathroom there."
Not only that, Elle magazine asked whether he had ever been intimate with an actress he had worked with, Jung Woo Sung carefully avoided a direct answer. "That question is not just directed at me but could also involve others, which makes it difficult to answer... either way I didn't do it with Son Ye Jin."
This 2004 interview has become a hot topic in a popular online community, where netizens have been criticizing both the magazine and the actor over the nature of the questions. Some Korean netizens speculated that Jung Woo Sung may have approved the questions when presented with them prior to the interview.
Korean netizens commented:
"The level of the question is so low."
"The questions are basically sexual harassment."
"He must've chosen the questions before going to the interview."
"I remember reading this interview. It was so weird reading it."
"How does a fashion magazine blatantly ask about sex like that?"
"I read that interview when I was young but reading it again now that I'm an adult, it's really disgusting."
"The questions were abnormal so there's no way he could've answered them properly."
"What's with the questions?"
"I think Jung Woo Sung answered the questions eloquently considering how low-quality they were."
"I don't want to side with Jung Woo Sung, but the questions were weird in the first place."
"There were so many disgusting questions in magazines a long time ago."
"I'm sure he was given the questions before the interview. He could've told them to take the questions out but he didn't."
"Such trash interview."
"That interview was actually published? Disgusting."
"Is this interview for real? Why is he mentioning an actress's name for questions like this."
"Jung Woo Sung most likely chose this set of questions after being presented with a few."
"What kind of ridiculous questions are those, and what kind of ridiculous answers are those?"
"Is this for an adult magazine?"
