T-ara's Jiyeon shared her first social media post following the announcement of her divorce from baseball player Hwang Jae Gyun.
On October 8, Jiyeon took to her Instagram to express her gratitude to fans in English. She wrote, "15th Anniversary Fan Meeting. The memories from yesterday’s fan meeting will stay with me for a long time. I’ll forever cherish the glances and words we exchanged. To Queens, who always support T-ara, thank you so much and I love you all."
In the photos she posted, Jiyeon is seen smiling warmly at her fans, radiating a loving presence.
The day before, on October 7, Jiyeon became emotional during T-ara’s global 15th-anniversary fan meeting held at the Broadway Theatre in Macau. This marked her first official appearance following the news of her divorce from Hwang Jae Gyun. Despite maintaining her smile throughout the event, she was seen wiping away tears during her final goodbyes to fans.
Fans chanted "T-ara" as they expressed their support.
Meanwhile, the news of Jiyeon’s divorce first surfaced on October 5. A legal representative confirmed that the couple mutually agreed to divorce after being unable to overcome their differences. The divorce mediation application was submitted to the Seoul Family Court, and it appears the process began after their separation.
This divorce follows rumors that had circulated since June of this year. At the time, both Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun had denied the speculation, calling it baseless. However, controversy grew when Hwang was seen attending a late-night drinking event, fueling more rumors.
Jiyeon apologized to her fans, saying, “I’m sorry to greet you with unpleasant news.” Hwang Jae Gyun also commented, “Though our journey as a married couple has ended, we will continue to support each other.”
