DAY6, the South Korean pop rock band formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015, now comprises four talented members: Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. The members have always been involved in the songwriting and production, offering a personal touch to their music. They have mastered the art of blending melancholy with hope that resonates deeply with listeners across the globe.
As DAY6 celebrates their ninth debut anniversary on September 7, they are soaring to new heights, dominating international and domestic music charts like never before, notably the prestigious MelOn Charts. Since their September 2 comeback with the mini-album ‘Band Aid’ and the title track "Melt Down," the band has been racking up chart-topping accolades. Let’s explore their latest triumphs.
Within an hour of its release, all songs from ‘Band Aid’ charted on MelOn TOP100, and the title track soared to #1 in only three hours, marking it as the fifth fastest song to do so.
‘Band Aid’ also hit No.1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in at least nine different regions across the globe.
On September 3, “Melt Down” achieved a Real Time All-Kill, topping all major charts like MelOn, Genie, Flo, Bugs, etc. It joins IU’s “Love Wins All” as one of only two 2024 releases to achieve this feat within 24 hours.
“Melt Down" has climbed to #1 on the MelOn Daily Chart, making it the first JYP act to do so since TWICE's "MORE & MORE" in 2020. Additionally, several DAY6 tracks, both new and old, are dominating the MelOn TOP100, with multiple entries in the top 10.
On September 15, DAY6's track “HAPPY,” from their March release 'FOUREVER,' achieved a Real-Time All-Kill, making them the only artist in 2024 to accomplish this achievement with multiple songs.
After nearly six months since its release, “HAPPY” soared to #1 on the MelOn Daily Chart, with DAY6 becoming the first and sole act to secure multiple #1s on this chart in 2024. The track also conquers the YouTube Music Korea chart, peaking at #2.
DAY6 has achieved a remarkable milestone by being the first band since HYUKOH in 2015 to simultaneously occupy top 2 on the MelOn Weekly Chart with “Melt Down” and “HAPPY.”
DAY6’s debut track “Congratulations,” which was released nine years ago, is now climbing on all renowned South Korean charts and peaking at #55 on the MelOn Daily Chart.
Moreover, DAY6 is set to make history as the first-ever Korean band to hold a concert at Gocheok Sky Dome. With their latest album, sold-out tours, and chart dominance, the band seems to be in their golden era, both commercially and artistically.
