Netflix's highly anticipated original series 'Squid Game' has officially unveiled the first poster for season 2.
On September 19, the official Netflix account teased the release, stating, "It's almost time to rejoin the game. A special teaser for 'Squid Game' Season 2 will be revealed tomorrow," while revealing the poster.
Under the title 'Squid Game 2,' the phrase "THE GAME WILL NOT STOP" is written. The poster shows a participant in a green tracksuit being dragged, bleeding, by an enforcer in a pink jumpsuit, hinting at the intensity to come. The background, set on a running track, has led to fan speculation.
Netizens have been buzzing with theories: “Is the theme of Season 2 a sports event day?” “Could it be inspired by the physical fitness tests we experienced as kids?” and “If it’s on a track, will the games be related to athletics?”
On the same day, Netflix gathered the show's lead actors Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon to read fan theories about Season 2. Some fans speculated about storylines such as "the backstory of the front man and host," "Wi Ha Joon becoming a villain who tries to stop the game but ends up as the host," or "Sung Gi Hun becoming the front man due to his pink hair." Others guessed that "Lee Byung Hun might become a VIP wearing an animal mask and offer the Front Man role to Sung Gi Hun."
In response to the fan theories, Lee Byung Hun laughed, saying, “These are fun ideas, but they’re not close to reality,” while Lee Jung Jae added, “Season 2 is even more exciting than all the speculations combined,” heightening expectations.
Returning for 'Squid Game' Season 2 are stars like Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, and Gong Yoo, along with new cast members including Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, and others. The new season, which promises an even stronger ensemble, is set to premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 26, 2024.
Additionally, Netflix has announced that the final season of the series will be released in 2025.
