The police fined FC Seoul Player Jesse Lingard for riding an electric scooter without a license.
The police have fined Jesse Lingard, a player for the professional football club FC Seoul, for riding an electric scooter without a license.
According to the police on September 19, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul issued Lingard a fine of 190,000 KRW (~143.05 USD) for violations including driving without a license, not wearing a helmet, exceeding passenger limits, and driving against traffic. Lingard appeared at the police station on September 18 to provide a statement regarding the incident.
Lingard is accused of riding the electric scooter without a license in Apgujeong, Gangnam, at around 10:20 PM on September 16.
The police launched an investigation after confirming a video posted on Lingard's social media showing him riding the scooter. They also investigated the fact that he had a passenger on the scooter.
Based on Lingard's testimony, the police are also looking into whether he was driving under the influence. However, it was confirmed that Lingard tested negative in a preliminary drug test.
Lingard attracted attention earlier this year when he officially joined FC Seoul in February. He previously played more than 200 matches for Manchester United in the English Premier League (EPL) and represented England in the World Cup.
