On the "final deadline" day of September 25th(KST), ADOR, the agency representing NewJeans, held a board meeting and pushed to extend the term of Min Heejin as an internal director.
This appears to be a compromise between the two sides, which have been in sharp disagreement.
In an official statement released on the 25th, ADOR announced, "At today’s board meeting, ADOR resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting to reappoint Min Heejin as an internal director." It was reported that Min Heejin attended the meeting in her capacity as an internal director.
While Min Heejin maintained her stance of wanting to return as CEO, she is said to have expressed her willingness to accept the proposal of a three-year reappointment as an internal director.
However, the ADOR board decided that the request for her return as CEO could not be accepted.
With basic guarantees regarding Min Heejin’s position, duration, and authority as the lead producer of NewJeans, it is expected that further negotiations will take place on specific terms. ADOR has communicated the discussions and answers from the board meeting to NewJeans via email.
In essence, ADOR has proposed a compromise that includes: ▲ maintaining Min Heejin as an internal director ▲ rejecting her return as CEO ▲ continuing her role in producing, all in response to the final deadline set by NewJeans.
However, since Min Heejin’s return as CEO—a key demand by NewJeans—has not been fulfilled, it remains to be seen what the group’s next course of action will be.
