On August 5th, a press screening for the film Victory was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. The event was attended by director Park Beom-soo, as well as Lee Hye-ri, Park Se-wan, Lee Jung-ha, and Jo Ah-ram, who shared various insights about the film.
Victory is a film that tells the story of the "Millennium Girls," a rookie cheerleading club brimming with passion. Set in the familiar yet nostalgic backdrop of 1999, the movie uniquely combines the themes of cheerleading with elements like girl’s hip-hop, broadcast dance, and even soccer, offering a dynamic visual experience.
Lee Hye-ri stars as Pil-seon, an aspiring dancer and the film’s central character. Known for her charm in both dancing and acting, Lee took on new challenges by learning hip-hop dance, cheerleading, and even mastering a regional dialect to portray Pil-seon’s character.
During the press event, Lee Hye-ri was moved to tears by the praise the film received. She expressed her deep connection to the character, stating that Pil-seon was a particularly challenging role for her. Lee also mentioned how the support from the director and production team helped her embrace the character's passion and innocence.
Reflecting on her experience, Lee Hye-ri shared that Victory gave her the chance to dance again after a long time, but the hip-hop style was unfamiliar and required learning new techniques. She also remarked on the physical demands of cheerleading, likening it to a sport rather than just dance. Despite the challenges, she felt a sense of pride watching the film, knowing that she and her co-stars performed all the scenes without any doubles.
Victory is set to be released in theaters on August 14th.
