Psychiatrist Yang Jae Woong is stepping down from his regular segment, 'A Clean and Dark Place,' on MBC Radio's 'Starry Night,' hosted by Kim Eana.
According to an exclusive July 30 report by Xports News, Yang has been advising listeners on mental health issues in this segment for the past four years. His last appearance was on July 26, and starting from August 2, DJ Kim Eana will replace this segment with 'My Life's Movie OST.'
Yang Jae Woong's agency, Mystic Story, clarified that his departure from the show is unrelated to recent events involving his hospital and that there were no planned appearances on 'Starry Night' after this date. MBC is currently verifying the situation.
This change follows a recent incident at Yang's hospital, where a patient reportedly died. According to SBS, a woman in her 30s, identified as Ms. A, passed away in May at a psychiatric hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. CCTV footage showed that after Ms. A complained of abdominal pain, staff restrained her. Despite attempts at resuscitation, she did not survive. The family has filed a complaint against the hospital for criminal negligence resulting in death.
Yang Jae Woong issued an apology through his agency on July 29, expressing deep regret and offering condolences to the deceased's family. He emphasized the seriousness of the incident and assured that the hospital was fully cooperating with ongoing investigations, providing medical records and CCTV footage.
Ms. A had been admitted for treatment related to addiction to diet pills containing narcotics, and the suspected cause of death is pseudo-obstruction.
Yang Jae Woong recently announced his engagement to EXID's Hani on May 31.
