According to an exclusive media outlet report on May 16 KST, project group Kep1er will continue its activities as a 7-member group.
Of the group's nine members (Choi Yujin, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo), seven members have reportedly decided to extend their project group contracts.
Members Kang Yeseo and Mashiro will be returning to their agency, 143 Entertainment, upon the expiration of their current contracts, to join girl group LIMELIGHT.
Kep1er, formed from the Mnet girl group survival program 'Girls Planet 999', debuted in January of 2022 with a contract period of 2 years and 6 months. The group's original contract will expire in July of 2024. After July, Kep1er will resume promotions as 7-members.
Meanwhile, Kep1er will release their 1st full album 'Kep1going On' next month on June 3 KST.
[UPDATE] 143 Entertainment has since responded to the above report with the statement, "We are still discussing the matter of extending Kep1er's contract with our label artists Kang Yeseo and Mashiro. The discussions continued until yesterday, and we are carefully considering the details."
