On April 20 KST, the NewJeans member took to the group's fan communication app Phoning to share some new selfies.
In the photos, she poses outside in a light grey hoodie with a red inflatable heart attached to her shirt. She gives a wide-eyed glance to the camera and even gives the camera a wink in one shot. The most surprising part of the photos was her dramatic hair change, sporting long blonde hair with blunt bangs that bring her usual girl-next-door look a trendy new aura.
The photos became a hot topic across social media, with one Korean online community sharing the photos with the caption, "NewJeans Minji's blonde selfies. Wow, she's like a doll... but they say it's a wig ㅋㅋㅋ." In response to the post, netizens reacted by complimenting the young idol's beauty and saying, "I had a feeling it was probably a wig, but it's really a wig!," "As expected from the greatest to come out of Chuncheon," and "She's really freaking pretty."

I hope that’s a wig. The girls of New Jeans had the most beautiful hair when they debuted. Their hair was so gorgeous that I would have expected them to be chosen as spokesmodels for hair care products. Bleaching that gorgeous hair of hers will only make it dull, thin, and always in need of wigs and weaves. Blonde hair doesn’t suit her.
