Former Big Bang member Seungri has sparked another controversy by mentioning G-Dragon during his recent celebration in Cambodia. Amidst the recent attention, some have shed light on Seungri's past statement seven years ago during a Big Bang fan meeting.
Recently, an online community post titled, 'Another business venture Seungri was planning: Cancer diagnosis kit' has gained the attention of netizens. The online community post has already gained over 90,000 views and over 566 comments on Theqoo.
The post included a video recorded during the 'Big Bang Special Event' fan meeting held at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome in January 2017. In the video, the members had to guess what business venture Seungri was planning, and the members couldn't answer correctly. So, Seungri revealed that it was a 'Cancer Diagnosis Kit.'
Seungri went on to explain his plans for the cancer diagnosis kit, stating that traditional methods involve X-rays and blood tests, which are costly and time-consuming. He expressed his intention to develop a kit that could diagnose cancer by analyzing urine, making the process more accessible.
As Seungri continued to elaborate on his business plan during the fan meeting, fellow Big Bang member Daesung suggested posting it on social media first, and G-Dragon cautioned that it was too risky to talk about and should be confirmed through thorough testing before sharing such information publicly.
Despite the warnings, Seungri defended his project, stating that the product would be released, clinical trials were already completed, and the prototype would be available for sale in March. He urged fans to search for information on portal sites, asserting that the fans should try to use the kit themselves.
Netizens who watched the video expressed various opinions, with some finding it surprising that such a discussion even took place during a fan meeting. Some drew parallels between Seungri's statements and the controversial claims made by Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos; she was dubbed the 'Silicon Valley's biggest fraud,' and was convicted in November 2022 for falsely claiming to diagnose multiple diseases with a few drops of blood.
They commented, "Why is he talking about that at a fan meeting," "G-Dragon really had it hard didn't he," "It's more fascinating that it didn't cause a huge controversy back then," and more.
Seungri faced controversy in 2019 during the 'Burning Sun' incident. Following the controversy, he left the group and retired from the entertainment industry. Recently, a video of Seungri claiming he would bring G-Dragon to Cambodia at an event has also circulated online, attracting attention once again.
The useless filler member of Bigbang continues trying to scam people. Amazing.
