Super Junior's Shindong bowed his head and apologized to fans for his recent remarks.

On April 3, Shindong released a video titled "A Message I Want to Sincerely Share" on his YouTube channel Shindongdaengdong. In the video, Shindong shared his conversation with the production team and shared his sincere heart with fans.

He began by sharing, "I’ve been thinking, 'Why didn’t I think of this earlier?' while I was doing variety shows. I’ve been doing the same thing for so long. First of all, I was really surprised to hear that fans felt this way, and I was told that they were saying in the past, too, that I should be like that. But I didn’t understand why back then—why they told me not to say those things. I now realize that it could have made people uncomfortable. We made jokes like this at concerts and events, so this time, I realized that these kinds of comments were uncomfortable for some people."

Earlier, Shindong has been receiving backlash from fans after dissing Eunhyuk and calling him ugly. Shindong and Eunhyuk made guest appearances on the latest episode of 'Dolding Fourmen.' During the show, Lee Sang Min brought up the topic of idol visuals and said, "To be honest, these members, except Dong Pyo, don't look like idols." In response, Shindong joked, "I think Eunhyuk does look like an idol, but personally, I think Eunhyuk is one of the ugliest people I've seen."

Following Shindong's remark, fans expressed discomfort as he blatantly dissed his fellow member on a broadcast. With growing criticism, Shindong took to YouTube to sincerely apologize to fans.

Shindong acknowledged, “I admit I’m from the old school, and I do need to change. That was my mistake. Not long ago, I appeared on Hyoyeon’s YouTube, and fans really liked how I pointed out the mistakes of the other members, but I didn’t realize it at the time. I thought fans liked it when Super Junior poked fun at each other and joked around.” He continued, “I tried so hard to be funny on variety shows, but I didn’t realize that it was hurting the fans. I’ve really learned a lot from this. I never intended to hurt anyone. I was just trying to be funny. I feel so foolish now.”

He also revealed he apologized to Eunhyuk and explained, "Before coming here, I spoke with Eunhyuk. I told him that I thought I should apologize before filming. He told me not to take it too seriously because he knew I didn’t mean it that way. I really appreciated that. But now I understand that, from the viewer’s perspective, it can come off differently. I realized that the moment people who like me start to dislike me, I’m finished. I was shaking when I realized that."

He concluded by saying, "I definitely need to recognize the things I shouldn’t do. I want to tell the fans that I was wrong, and I’m sorry. If you can forgive me just once, I’ll be more careful in the future. Super Junior isn’t over yet, so we’ll stay a great group. This experience has made me take time to reflect. I’ll do my best to be the Shindong and Super Junior that you all support."
