IU's grueling schedule is gaining renewed attention following 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' conclusion.
The popular Netflix series 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' has been captivating viewers and fans all over the world with its compelling love story between Ae Soon (played by IU) and Gwan Sik (played by Park Bo Gum) throughout their lifetime, expressed in poetic four seasons. The drama was released in four separate parts - Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter - and captures the enduring story of love, rite of passage, growth, and life.
In the drama, IU also portrays Ae Soon's daughter Geum Myung, who also resembles her mother's bold and rebellious personality. With the recent premiere and conclusion of the hit Netflix series, fans have been revisiting IU’s past vlog, where she briefly revealed her intense schedule during the drama’s filming.
In her IU TV vlog on YouTube, IU shared a glimpse of her packed 2023 schedule, balancing multiple projects while working on the drama.
March–December 2023 – Filming 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' (playing dual roles as Ae Soon and Geum Myung)
- Two ad shoots before traveling overnight to Nonsan for drama filming - Continuous filming across Nonsan, Seoul, Andong, and Yeoncheon, with minimal rest - Recording "Shopper" in between
- Filming the Love Wins All music video
- Recording the song shortly after, despite having the flu
- Wrapping up 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' filming on December 23
- Frequent hair bleaching and dyeing for role transitions
After completing the drama, IU immediately shifted her focus to music:
January 2, 2024 – Departed for Los Angeles for album jacket shoots Same week – Filmed "Shopper" and "Holssi" music videos
Within a month – Recorded and filmed for 'The Winning' album, including "Shh.." MV. The exact date isn't revealed, but it is said she drew inspiration for "Shh..." from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.'
