As allegations of WINNER member Song Min Ho’s inadequate military service have been confirmed as true, attention is now focused on what consequences he may face.

According to the police, Song Min Ho was summoned for questioning on February 26 regarding his insufficient service as a social service worker. This was his third summons following investigations on January 23 and February 15.

Since beginning his service as a social service worker in March 2023, Song Min Ho has been accused of violating military service laws by failing to properly report to his assigned workplace. On December 23 last year, police formally booked him on charges of violating the Military Service Act. Shortly after the allegations surfaced on December 17, his agency, YG Entertainment, issued an official statement claiming, "His medical leave was an extension of treatment he had been receiving before his service, and all other leaves were taken in accordance with regulations."

However, apart from this official statement, Song Min Ho has remained silent. It has been reported that during his third summons, he largely admitted to leaving his workplace during service hours, effectively contradicting his earlier stance. Despite being at the center of the controversy, he has remained silent for five months since the allegations first arose.

Following the accusations, some have argued that Song Min Ho should be re-enlisted as an active-duty soldier. However, under the current Military Service Act, this is nearly impossible.

According to Article 33 of the act, a social service worker who absents himself from duty without a valid reason must serve an extended period of five times the number of days absent. If the unauthorized absence exceeds eight days, he could face up to three years in prison.

Previously, Psy, who faced similar allegations of inadequate service, served as an industrial technical personnel for approximately 35 months until 2005. He later re-enlisted as an active-duty soldier in 2007, fulfilling his mandatory military service for 20 months.
