The police have revealed that they conducted a search and seizure of the media company Dispatch to confirm the leakage of investigation information related to the late actor Lee Sun Gyun.

On January 23, the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency revealed that the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Division, investigating the suspicion of leaking investigation information, executed search warrants on the previous day for the Incheon Police Agency's narcotics investigation unit, media outlets, and others.

The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Division secured numerous investigation-related materials, including the office of the Incheon Police Agency's narcotics crime investigation unit and the personal electronic devices of its employees.

In response, Dispatch, on the afternoon of January 23, published an article titled '[Notice] Hope it doesn't end with the search and seizure on Dispatch' stating, "The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Investigation Division conducted a search and seizure on 'Dispatch'" and revealed, "They seized the mobile phones and laptops of reporters to find the source of the leaked incident report."

Dispatch explained, "The specific articles for which the Gyeonggi Southern Police conducted the search and seizure is about the 'Straw' and Lee Sun Gyun giving 'fragmented statement,' and the articles released the day after Lee Sun Gyun's death'" and mentioned, "Dispatch pointed out issues with the police investigation and media coverage in those articles. In the process, they released the incident report the police created on October 18."

At that time, Dispatch criticized the 'Investigation Progress Report on Drug Use Cases by Entertainers and Employees of Entertainment Venues' published in the article, stating, "They created a sloppy interim report based solely on the words of the informants Shin OO and Park OO, without even verifying the facts."

Dispatch continued, stating, "Lee Sun Gyun passed away. The essence of the problem is the police's leaking and the media's transcription," and argued, "Statements edited from unrelated voice recordings, edited statements about the circumstances, and who cooked up the information from which source should be revealed."

Finally, Dispatch conveyed its position, saying, "After Lee Sun Gyun's death, (we) released the internal police report. This document exposes the flaws of the police. We hope that the Gyeonggi Southern Police's search and seizure will not be used to cover up the police's flaws."

Meanwhile, Lee Sun Gyun passed away on the 27th of last month while under investigation for alleged drug use. Subsequently, his fellow artists released a statement titled 'Demands of Cultural and Artistic Individuals Confronting the Death of the Late Lee Sun Gyun Actor,' urging the disclosure of the truth about the leakage of investigation information."
