On January 12 KST, a coalition of prominent cultural figures, including renowned film director Bong Joon Ho and celebrated singer Yoon Jong Shin, is set to make a significant announcement at the Press Center in Seoul. The statement, titled 'Demands of cultural artists facing the death of the late actor Lee Sun Gyun,' is aimed at addressing the unfortunate demise of the late actor Lee Sun Gyun on December 27 and advocating for crucial reforms within the cultural and arts landscape to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.

This collective, known as the 'Culture and Artists' Solidarity Meeting' (tentative name), comprises around 29 culture and arts-related organizations. They are deeply saddened by Lee Sun Gyun's passing and are determined to ensure that similar incidents are avoided in the future. Their demands include a comprehensive investigation by authorities to uncover the truth surrounding the circumstances of Lee Sun Gyun's death, a call for media outlets to engage in introspection regarding their reporting practices, the removal of articles that fail to serve the purpose of responsible journalism, and a reassessment of existing laws to safeguard the human rights of cultural artists.

The statement announcement on this day will be attended by prominent figures from the industry, including film director Bong Joon Ho, singer and composer Yoon Jong Shin, film director Lee Won Tae, actor Choi Deok Moon, and leaders of various related organizations.

The late actor Lee Sun Gyun was discovered deceased in a park in Seoul on December 27. Prior to his passing, he had been booked and investigated on charges related to marijuana and psychotropic drugs under the Narcotics Control Act back in October.
