According to media outlet News1 on April 17 KST, actor Kim Soo Hyun's side has been ordered to correct and pay the litigation fee and court service charges for his damages lawsuit against the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron, as well as against the YouTube channel HOVERLAB. If Kim Soo Hyun's side fails to pay the fees in time, his lawsuits may be dismissed.
Previously, Kim Soo Hyun's side claimed that he would be filing a 12 billion KRW (~ $8.5 million USD) damages lawsuit against the two parties mentioned above for publicizing details about his private life. However, the actual amount filed in the submitted lawsuit was 11 billion KRW.
In response, the 14th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ordered Kim Soo Hyun's side to correct the damages amount, and also instructed the plaintiff's side to pay the litigation fees and court service charges based on 12 billion KRW, not 11 billion KRW.
In Kim Soo Hyun's case, the litigation fees and court service charges alone are estimated at approximately 38 million KRW (~ $27,000 USD) for a 12 billion KRW lawsuit.
According to News1, Kim Soo Hyun's side has yet to pay the required fees as ordered by the court. In fact, the plaintiff's side requested an extension for the fee payment deadline earlier this week on April 16 KST, seemingly appearing reluctant to fulfill the payment needed to proceed with the lawsuit.
As a result, Kim Soo Hyun's damages lawsuit has yet to move on to its hearing stage. If the actor's side does not pay the litigation fees and court service charges in time, the lawsuit will be dismissed.
When contacted for a statement, Kim Soo Hyun's label Gold Medalist stated, "We are currently checking on the matter."
[UPDATE] A representative of Kim Soo Hyun's side has come forward to deny the above reports, saying on April 17 KST, "The news that we did not pay the litigation fees and court service charges is false. All litigation fees and court service charges have been paid. The requested extension merely involved a change in address."
