South Korean content continues to dominate global streaming on Netflix, second only to U.S. content in total viewing hours since 2023.
According to Ampere's analysis of Netflix viewing data, it consistently makes up 8–9% of Netflix viewing globally, outperforming content from the U.K. and Japan.
South Korea accounts for 17% of the top 500 most popular non-U.S. titles, with 'Squid Game: Season 2' leading global charts in late 2024. Other Korean titles, including 'Love Next Door' and 'Culinary Class Wars,' also performed strongly, alongside enduring hits like 'Queen of Tears' and 'Crash Landing on You.'

Netflix’s success is fueled by its investment strategy, with over half of the top 100 Korean titles being Originals and nearly a third being exclusives, many sourced from leading content provider CJ ENM. Netflix has committed 2.5 billion USD to Korean content through 2028.
South Korean media companies like CJ ENM are further expanding their global presence, with an 818 million USD content budget for 2025 and plans for international partnerships and global streaming expansion.
