As 2024 approaches, many singers are preparing for their comeback, including some familiar big-name artists.
IU, G-Dragon, and Cho Yong Pil have raised expectations with their comeback announcements.
IU is set to release an album after about two years. Since releasing 'Pieces' in December 2021, she has continued her activities as an actress and plans to return as a singer in the new year, showcasing her true strength in music.
IU has received much love for every song she has released, such as 'Good Day,' 'You and I,' 'Red Shoes,' 'Palette,' 'Lilac,' and 'Blueming,' and last year, she held a solo concert at Jamsil Stadium, a first for a K-pop female artist.
IU has personally announced her comeback preparations through her YouTube channel. She revealed, "I was recording until dawn. I have to record the title track and another important song." She also mentioned that, unlike her usual practice of three-letter song titles, this time the title will not be three letters.
Particularly, it was previously revealed that BTS V, who enlisted on the 11th, will appear in IU's new music video, generating buzz. IU commented, "The music video was great from the time of filming. It's completely CG-free, and it has an atmosphere that's never been in any IU music video before."
G-Dragon, who has cleared himself of drug allegations, also hinted at his return to his main career. Previously indicted for drug use, G-Dragon voluntarily appeared at the police station for a simple drug test and detailed evaluation, proving his innocence. After clearing the charges, he signed an exclusive contract with Galaxy Corporation and announced his fresh start.
G-Dragon, in a press conference held by his new agency Galaxy Corporation on the 21st, promised to establish a foundation for drug eradication and fulfill both his artistic and social responsibilities with his 2024 comeback.
Especially since G-Dragon hasn't released new music since his 2017 mini-album 'Kwon Ji Yong,' expectations are particularly high for his upcoming release after about 6 years and 6 months.
Additionally, 'King of Singers' Cho Yong-pil also seems to be planning a comeback next year.
Last year, marking his 55th debut anniversary, Cho Yong-pil announced the release of his 20th studio album with 10 songs this fall.
However, he released 'Road to Twenty-Prelude One' and 'Road to Twenty-Prelude Two' in November last year and April this year for his 20th album project, but the full album has yet to be released. Expectations are growing for its release in the first half of next year.
Meanwhile, Cho Yong-pil has proven his enduring status as the 'King of Singers' by holding his 55th-anniversary concerts starting in Gwangju on the 2nd, followed by Seoul, Daegu, and Busan.
