Actor Choi Hyun Wook has apologized following his cigarette butt controversy.

As previously reported, a viral video of Choi Hyun Wook throwing away his cigarette butt on the street in Apgujeong Rodeo caused a stir. The actor was criticized for littering with his cigarette butt and for smoking in a non-designated area, which are both illegal in South Korea.

Following the controversy, the actor wrote an apology, stating, "Firstly, I'm so sorry for disappointing my fans. I should be acting responsibly in every moment, but I disappointed many due to my careless actions. I apologize once again to the drama's director, writer, and staff as well as the many others who are working with us. I will humbly accept scolding and warnings, reflect on myself, and work hard to show you a more mature side of myself."

Choi Hyun Wook is starring in the tvN drama 'Twinkling Watermelon'. He's also known to have starred in NewJeans' music video for "Ditto".
