Korean/French-Canadian model/actor Julien Kang and fitness YouTuber JJ unveiled their low-budget self-wedding photos.
The YouTuber recently posted a video on her channel titled, "Trying to Take Wedding Photos with a Phone. The groom has no clothes that fit, being 193 cm tall and 105 kg." In the video, the couple is seen preparing for their wedding photoshoot and taking the photos themselves on a tight budget. JJ emphasized that the photoshoot will be under 100,000 KRW (~75.39 USD).
The couple even purchased flowers at the market in Yangjae-dong to handmake the bouquet for the photoshoot. JJ explained after purchasing the roses, "This is the most expensive item that we've purchased."
Julien Kang and JJ took their photos in various places such as the parking lot, elevator, and the streets with their cellphone.
JJ shared, "This is a photoshoot done under 100,000 KRW. I bought a dress, shoes, and one wedding veil online. Julien bought a pair of pants and a bowtie. The rest are our belongings." She added, "The most expensive thing is the bouquet. How can I reuse this?" showing off her frugal side.
The YouTuber also shared the photos from the photoshoot on her Instagram.
Meanwhile, the two made a surprise announcement of their relationship in May and announced their engagement in June. They are planning to hold their wedding in May of next year.
You can pay a lot of money to a professional photographer and still get bad photos because a photoshoot like this is all about the chemistry of the couple and bringing out their relationship. These photos look good because they capture that. Sure, the physical quality of the snaps aren't that great, but you can clearly see the couple love each other and had a lot of fun, which give the photos the candid magazine romance feeling.
To put it in context, I live in Korea and I have a view of a very popular wedding photo spot from my office window, and literally every day, a new couple will go up there and have their picture taken in the exact same spot. They're paying to have the exact same photo as everyone else! I'd definitely choose the organic cheap route.
