BLITZERS is a seven-piece boy group under Wuzo Entertainment, composed of members Go_U, Juhan, Jinhwa, Sya, Chris, Lutan, and Wooju. The septet debuted on May 12, 2021, with the mini-album ‘Check-In.’
2ND SINGLE ALBUM
Two years after their debut, BLITZERS released the latest single album in their discography, titled ‘Macarena,’ which features the title song of the same name and the B-side track “Question Mark.” It’s an album that is full of BLITZERS’ aspirations to spread exciting energy to all people regardless of their nationality, age, or gender.
“As much as this is a comeback in a long time, I think the biggest desire we had was to enjoy being on the stage again with many people rather than wanting to achieve a lot of different things,” said Jinhwa.
As mentioned by Jinhwa, BLITZERS’ return with ‘Macarena’ is their comeback in a long time, and according to Sya, this comeback “wasn’t without pressure.” Even so, since “Macarena” is a song that contains excitement and a lot of passionate energy and messages that make everyone dance, “I felt I wanted to enjoy the stage with everyone the most,” Sya added.
On the other hand, the sidetrack “Question Mark” is a good song to listen to, to wrap things up after listening to “Macarena.”
“When we first heard the demo, all of us were going for 'Macafena,'” said Chris, adding that they felt like there was something special about the song. “It went really well, the recording went very quickly and the choreography came out really well. This is one of our favorite comebacks.”
According to the members, BLITZERS' staff spoke with them a lot from the early stages of the album preparations, so the fans and everyone who listens to the song can enjoy it in accordance with its concept. “They suggested a lot about the direction and gave us a lot of feedback.” He added, “We received a lot of stimulation, help, influence, and energy.”
During the interview, they also mentioned that they would like to try a lot of genres such as disco sexy concepts or something that they haven't tried yet. Sya then responded that he would personally want to try songs that are like “Macarena,” adding “Like songs that we can do and play with.”
"MACARENA" MUSIC VIDEO
The music video for “Macarena” showcases various genres, including comedy, funky, and action hybrid. In the music video, there's a story in which everyone has his own character.
When asked if the members have any behind-the-scenes stories, Lutan said, “I tried having long hair while filming this music video. I had long hair, so it tickled me throughout the filming and bothered me. But I think I got attached to the long hair since I had it until the end.” Juhan chimed in, “But you looked good in it!"
“To be honest, there was a bug in Lutan’s hair (wig). It was funny so I didn’t tell Lutan about it. I think maybe he got tickled because of that (bug),” Jinhwa added.
2ND ANNIVERSARY & TOUR
“We debuted in May 2021, and we went on our U.S. tour in January 2022. We went on the tour 8 months after our debut so we had a lot of shortcomings. But the fans that came cheered us on diligently and even if we lacked experience, I think we made good memories with fans,” said Sya.
“You may think we gained a lot of fans quickly, but we still have a lot of bigger goals left. So, we are happy about such good reviews but I feel that we’re still not fully satisfied.”
Besides winning first place on music shows as they already went on tours in the US and Europe, BLITZERS want to go overseas and meet more BLEEs that they haven't met yet. “We want to go on tour again,” said Lutan.
Jinhwa added, “Just as Lutan said, I want our flow to spread all over the world.”
Last May, BLITZERS commemorated their 2nd anniversary, and since then, the members have been working diligently. They can get tired from all the activities, but they think it's also time for them to unite together and move forward to another level. “We will work together diligently,” Jinhwa replied.
“It’s our 2nd anniversary this year (“Yi Joo Yeon” in Korean), we say “Yi Joo Yeon” and it sounds like we’re saying Lee Joon Young (Sya’s real name) so I was happy,” Sya reacted.
“What life did Lee Joon Young of BLITZERS live?" he asked. “We lived a happy life. For 2 years.”
TEAMWORK & INFLUENCES
Having been in the industry for over 2 years, BLITZERS' teamwork is getting better day by day. The reason behind that is, according to Chris, “We spend a lot of time together, just practicing things such as dancing, singing, and even sleeping.” But not only that, how they are able to express their feelings very well to each other is also another point behind the group's strong teamwork.
Juhan added, “We’re together almost 24 hours a day so I think our teamwork improves automatically.”
“I think that us all having different individual colors and personalities makes us shine more,” said Jinhwa. “Each of our individual colors gathers together and becomes a star at the top, like a Christmas tree.”
When asked about their inspirations, the boys shared that they have big influences on the 3rd generation K-Pop idols. And because of the idols from the previous generation, Chris believes that they're the reason why they had a chance to go on a European tour and a US tour. “We’re very thankful for them."
