K-pop idols bear the envy of many as they are seen living lavish lifestyles - being invited to luxury brand events and parties, being adorned with opulent jewelry and extravagant outfits, while shining on stage with millions of fans cheering for them.

However, some forget there is the other side of the dazzling fame and wealth - the harsh realities of struggling groups who fail to gain attention. 

Recently, Korean netizens have been faced with the undeniable truth that some idol groups struggle to gain significant traction and face the harshness of being unpopular.

A photo was shared on a popular Korean online community showing a lesser-known boy group holding a fan meeting. Except, it isn't the fan meeting you quickly think of when hearing "fan meeting."

In the photo, these boys are just standing in a line on the street with only a few fans lined up in front of them. The netizen who shared the photo wrote, "This is a fan meeting but that's all the people...this doesn't look like a fan meeting, it's more like a blind date meeting."

Other netizens commented, "There are groups that only have the title of 'idol' and only focus on going to small events to perform," "People say if an idol group ranks low on the Melon chart they're flops but that's not flopping," "They look like a group who debuted with a really small company," "The idol groups we see on tv are the top 1-10%," "These days dance crews become more popular than these unknown idol groups," "I think they're a group that debuted last month.
