[C/W - Content Warning]
In recent years, web dramas have become increasingly popular with the rise in various OTT platforms and YouTube. These web dramas can offer viewers a diverse range of stories and entertainment that was not possible through major broadcast companies.
However, there have been concerns that some of these web dramas are incorporating overtly sexualized content due to the lack of regulations on the web streaming platforms. In particular, a short episode titled "Taking Revenge on My Bully Stuck in the Wall..." made by the YouTube channel MilkFilm became the center of discussion.
The story begins with a high school bully smoking cigarettes at the back of the school when a teacher comes along. To avoid being punished for her actions, the female student finds a hole in the wall and tries to run away. Unfortunately, she becomes stuck.
That is when one of her victims comes along and discovers that the female bully was stuck in a wall. He tries to pull her out to no avail. The female bully lashes out at her classmate with frustration. The male student takes revenge by taking photos of the girl who is stuck and rebukes her for being mean.
In the end, the female student is freed, and she asks the male student to teach her how to be good and studious. She says, "Maybe you can teach me...Can I call you teacher...?"
Korean netizens discovered this web drama to be crossing the line and criticized it for its sexualized content as the female student was dressed in a very short skirt. They commented, "They must really be crazy," "I wonder what the actors were thinking when they filmed this," "The content isn't even that good," "This is crazy," "Do they think this is Japan?" "Thankfully, what we imagine didn't happen in the drama," "What is going on?" and "They thumbnail is really provocative but the content isn't as provocative."
“Do they think this is Japan”?? Wow... shots fired 😂
