Netizens are frowning on KBS after the broadcast company decided to show a kissing scene of Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, who had already divorced in 2019.
On March 3, KBS prepared a special concert titled 'Your KBS, Our 50 Years' for the public broadcasting station's 50th anniversary. The performances were broadcast live on KBS 1TV.
The special concert was hosted by actors Choi Soo Jong, Chae Shi Ra, and comedian Kang Ho Dong. There were many performances that were prepared, and singer Gummy appeared on stage to sing the OST "You Are My Everything" from the 2016 hit drama 'Descendants of the Sun.'
The only problem was that KBS decided to show the passionate kissing scene of Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki from the drama. The two lead actors of 'Descendants of the Sun' began dating after the series and got married in 2017. Unfortunately, the two decided to part ways after 1 year and 9 months and divorced in 2019.
Although 'Descendants of the Sun' was a popular drama, reaching viewer ratings of 40%, many netizens pointed out that showing the passionate kissing scene of the two was inconsiderate of KBS, especially because of Song Joong Ki's recent marriage news to Katy Louise Sanders.
Netizens commented, "Did they have to show that?" "They need to read the room," and "That was tasteless."
Sorry I don’t see what’s wrong. The song was for the couple in the drama. The two actors did nothing illegal all they did was divorce. Just because the two actors divorced doesn’t mean anything to the characters of the drama. Unless the two actors themselves are against this I don’t see why KBS showing it is a problem. This is still one of their biggest drama and song and KBS isn’t going to leave it out just because it’s “awkward”
