K-pop recognition in Brazil!
Today (29), the Brazilian Award BreakTudo Awards released the 2021 list of nominees, and for the first time, BTS received 5 nominations at the awards, being one of the most nominated of the year. The South Korean k-pop group's huge recognition was already to be expected, as they are dominating the music charts with their smash hit "Butter."
The BTS song "Butter" is nominated in the International Hit category, while the music video for the song "Dynamite" is nominated in the International Music Video category. "Butter" and "Dynamite" are BTS songs that hit the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The music video for "AYA" by girl group Mamamoo is nominated in the International Music Video category. K-pop male groups that also received nominations are EXO, GOT7, MONSTA X, seventeen, Stray Kids, TREASURE, and TXT. K-pop female groups that also received nominations are AESPA, Blackpink, Brave Girls, Everglow, (G)I-DLE, ITZY, Loona, and Twice.
Other notable BreakTudo Awards nominees include Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Maneskin, J Balvin, and Anitta.
The Brazilian channels TV Cidade and Yeeaah will simultaneously broadcast the award show in Brazil on October 21; there will be a Global broadcast on YouTube by the Telemilênio channel. The award is one of the most recognized and popular in Brazil; in 2020 it reached the great mark of 94 million votes, and according to the Get Day Trends monitor, was one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter in the world and reached the top of Trending Topics on Twitter in Indonesia.
