BTS’s main dancer and lead vocalist, Jimin, is known for his philanthropic efforts, which have inspired fans worldwide and have helped make a difference in raising awareness on important issues. They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as it is clear to see whom BTS Jimin got this remarkable trait from.
It was belatedly revealed that BTS Jimin’s dad donated a signed BTS “Map of the Soul: Persona” album to WeAja Charity Flea market, which was held in their hometown Busan last year. All proceeds were used to support children from low-income families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
WeAja Charity Flea Market is South Korea’s largest day-long flea market, which has raised 1.7B won since its inception in 2005, with all proceeds going to underprivileged children. Donations by public figures and celebrities are sold at an auction. The auction in Busan took place on November 14 last year.
This heartwarming act of kindness wasn’t known publicly until K-Armys recently checked and came across an Instagram post of the "Beautiful Store" from November 13. Their post included details of the auction, the auction method, and the starting bid of the autographed BTS album, which was 100,000 KRW (approximately $90 USD). Beautiful Store is one of the foundations in WeAja that raises funds from upcycling items for underprivileged communities.
This isn’t the first time that the father-and-son tandem has donated silently to worthy causes. Last year, Jimin’s father delivered Jimin’s donation of 100million KRW on his behalf to the Jeonnam Office of Education chairman to be used for students in South Jeolla province. Last year, Jimin’s father donated tuna sets to 100 families living in Busan in celebration of Chuseok. Also, in 2019, Jimin’s father personally handed Jimin’s donation of 100million KRW to the Busan Office of Education, which was used to aid students from underprivileged families.
Early this year, Jimin’s father was interviewed by Busan High School of Arts Magazine and shared his thoughts about doing charity work. He thanked Jimin for being able to give back and live a life of sharing as he and Jimin feel the same way about it – to give back as much as we receive. He also stated that doing voluntary social work is something that he has been doing for a long time, and to see Jimin's fans do the same is amazing.
Jimin’s and his dad’s generous deeds have become a positive influence as many of Jimin’s fans are inspired to support and organize various charitable activities consistently each year. Jimin and his dad are truly living angels who continuously pay it forward by spreading the “Be A Good Human” agenda.
Like father like son both are donation fairy. I really have a lot of respect to both of them. Be a good human being
