BTS V’s debut drama series “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” is set to air this August in multiple Asian countries.
KBS Media’s 2016 historical drama series: “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” is currently making a buzz as reports of the series being aired in multiple Asian countries have surfaced on the Internet.
The drama which revolves around an elite group of young men called "Hwarang" who discover their passions, love, and friendship in the turmoil of the Silla Kingdom was majorly loved thanks to its incredible star-cast. The lead actors: Go-A-ra, Park Seo-Joon, and Park Hyung-Sik along with popular idol actors such as Choi Minho and Kim Taehyung (BTS V) continue to receive love from the fans four years after its initial broadcast.
Starmometer reported on the 7th that “Hwarang” will air in the Philippines on the TFC cable channel via OSN starting from August 10. The series is also reported to air on the same day on MNTV, one of the most popular channels in Myanmar. In addition, it is also being aired on one of the largest Japanese TV channels: TBS channel 1.
“Hwarang” is most notably known among the masses and often headlines across the globe as “BTS member V’s debut drama series.” Earlier this week, the Korean media outlet: Star News Korea published an article titled: “BTS V’s debut drama series “Hwarang” to air in Japan.” As per the article, the series had the highest views on the TBS site and a snippet of V was shared on their official account. The article also noted that V was personally selected by “Park Sung-hye” the producer of the series who revealed in an interview that “He was hooked on V and fell in love with his charms.”
Moreover, “Jae-Ha Kim”, a well-known author and journalist, recently chose V as one of the Korean idols who are a “triple threat” or those who excel as a singer, dancer, and actor. They wrote: “V could have gotten by just acting cute but he brought true acting chops in his role… Behind his wide-eyed smile, he projected the pain and uncertainty his character was going through.” Despite his small role in the series, V showed exceptional potential as an actor and continues to draw keen interest from the fans and media alike as to when he would grace the screen again.
The drama series is also widely known as the beginning of one of the most-loved celebrity friendships in the industry today. The trio, Park Seo-Joon, Park Hyung-Sik, and BTS V who met on the sets of “Hwarang” have maintained a strong and admirable bond over the years. With Oscar-award winning actor Choi Woo-Shik and musician Peakboy joining in, the group of five or more fondly known as the “WoogaSquad” has taken over the hearts of fans worldwide. The members of the “Wooga Squad” have never shied away from supporting each other in their respective career fields or sharing snippets of their fun hang-outs on their social media accounts. Fans of the stars can often be seen thanking “Hwarang '' for bringing them together and kick-starting what is known today as one of the most heart-warming celebrity friendships.
