(G)I-DLE's Soyeon has been revealed to own 'crack' versions of software programs.
In a recent video uploaded on Cube Entertainment's official YouTube channel, a shot of Soyeon's laptop became an issue when netizens spotted a number of illegally pirated programs on her desktop. They include 'ni komplete' (renamed as as 'ni kontakt'), as well as 8 other pirated versions of downloaded files.
The video's original intention was to give fans a tour of Soyeon's studio, showing a glimpse of the process of her music-making. The pirated programs were mostly music-producing interface software that are sold online for at least 400,000 KRW (400 USD) each, according to the digital markets such as South Korea's 'Interpark'.
Upon seeing the screenshots, netizens left comments such as:
"I guess Cube wanted to show how hard Soyeon works on her music LOLOLOLOL But there are 9 illegally downloaded programs"
"Sigh...I'm actually worried and I feel sorry for the poor editor of the video T_T thinking that s/he will be heavily chastised for not checking thoroughly...I'm even angry"
"If [Soyeon] earns money from copyright royalties, then why does she violate other people's copyrights?"
Other comments include:
"She was in the wrong, so I hope she does some self-reflection and confirm that she bought the genuine products + write an apology letter, but I am still angry at Cube... Are they hoping to earn money by sponsoring them like a beggar?"
"Ah....man..."
"I am a fan of (G)I-DLE but please don't try to shield them in a weird way... they will receive even more criticism. This will end if Soyeon apologizes and Cube provides feedback. So Cube please quickly give us a feedback..."
