Now that it's 2019, you can look forward to MXM members Lim Young Min, Kim Dong Hyun, and former Wanna One members Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin finally debut together in a team!
Commonly referred to as the Brand New Boys, it's been revealed that Brand New Music intends to establish a specialized team of experts to aid Lim Young Min, Kim Dong Hyun, Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin hone in their skills and talents in rap making, choreography making, and music composition/writing.
Brand New Music hinted, "First, Wanna One's Lee Dae Hwi and Park Woo Jin will take a brief break after Wanna One's final concert at the end of this month after their endless promotions before joining the [Brand New Boys's] full group practices and preparations; and MXM's Lim Young Min and Kim Dong Hyun plan on wrapping up their unit promotions after the end of their U.S. fan meeting tour, as well as the 'Sapporo K-Pop Festival' next month."
While the four former 'Produce 101' season 2 contestants above are confirmed as members of the upcoming Brand New Music boy group, it's unclear whether or not the group will consist of more members. The label simply ended with, "After completing their scheduled activities, we plan to manage this group systematically through the focus team in order to establish concrete plans and reveal them in succession."
All I can say is that Brand New Music played it smart. The unfortunate thing about IOI is that the former members overshadow their new members in the groups they joined after. I personally think that's the reason Somi left JYP since JYP himself knows the damage a member who is too famous can cause to a group (MissA). But Brand New Music has a group with four famous members who have established fan bases.
