Japanese 'Produce 48' contestant Takeuchi Miyu, who finished #17 on the recently ended Mnet competition show, has announced her graduation from AKB48.
On September 5, Takeuchi Miyu appeared in a YouTube Live broadcast for an important announcement. She shared, "Trying to start new from a skill-based society like Korea was an opportunity that got my heart pounding the most of any of my activities until now. In this moment where I feel thankful for everything, I want to graduate from AKB48 and walk on my own path. That's why I've decided to graduate from AKB48 this year."
She continued, "I do not regret my past 14 years of promotions. I always thought that I would be graduating from AKB48 after achieving something great. While debating deeply about my direction for the past 10 years, I was given the opportunity to go on 'Produce 48'. I feel that right now, when so many things are lining up, is the most acceptable time."
"I've had thoughts of wanting to promote overseas for a long time. I'm incredibly happy right now. After graduating, I want to be active as an artist. Not just singing and dancing, but acting, and beyond," the Japanese idol revealed.
As a result, Takeuchi Miyu wll be holding her graduation handshake ceremony on December 23 of this year. While she has yet to announce any concrete plans, many suspect that she will promote in Korea after graduating from AKB48.
Best of luck, Takeuchi Miyu!
