On April 6, judge Kim Se Yoon of the Seoul Central District Court ruled 24 years in prison and fine of 18 billion KRW (16.8 million USD) for the former President.
Park Geun Hye was facing 18 charges involving abuse of power, bribery, and coercion. In February, the prosecutor requested 30 years in prison for the former President. The final ruling found Park Geun Hye guilty of 16 charges out of the 18.
The convictions against Park Geun Hye has finally drawn to a close, officially ending the corruption scandal. However, Korean citizens remain outraged at the ousted President, some even claiming the sentence is too light.
