During a previous broadcast of tvN's 'The List 2017', professionals named actor Song Joong Ki and actress Song Hye Kyo as the star couple who could have participated in the Winter Games if they didn't set foot into the entertainment industry.
Tying the knot in October of last year, although the two met on the set of KBS2TV 'Descendents of the Sun', it seems their fate goes back a bit further.
It was revealed that both celebrities started out skating on the ice in their earlier days. Song Joong Ki was a short track athlete, while Song Hye Kyo built up her experience performing as a figure skater.
During his school days, Soong Joong Ki took part in various competitions hoping to win gold at the Winter Games someday. He also competed against athlete Lee Ho Seok in a national contest.
However, he had to give up on his skating career after injuring his ankle in junior high school after ten years.
As for actress Song Hye Kyo, she also performed as a figure skater during junior high school as well. And went on to star in numerous dramas and commercials, showing off her skating abilities.
With that being said, there might have been a high chance of the star couple competing in the Winter Games this year if they didn't make their acting debut.
