Recently, a Korean exchange student named Annie An was being tutored by another Korean individual, Sean Lee, at a local Starbucks cafe located in Walnut Creek, California. The two kept to themselves while speaking their native language and minding their own business when one older woman told them to stop talking in Korean and should speak English only while making comments such as, "Oriental. I hate it.

Upon seeing this, two baristas at the cafe intervened and explained that the two Koreans have every right to speak their native language and that the lady should remove herself from the store. After failing to comply, the baristas called the police to escort the lady from the area.
