Actor Kwak Dong Yeon explained why he doesn't like going on variety shows. 

In a recent interview, Kwak Dong Yeon revealed that he's been scared of variety shows ever since he named or rather he was pressured to pick Kim So Hyun as his ideal type on 'Radio Star'. 

It was a child actor special when he guested on the show with Kim Yoo Jung and Kim So Hyun. When asked about his ideal type, he originally named actress Han Ji Min but was asked to choose between Kim Yoo Jung and Kim So Hyun.

This experience must've not been pleasant as Kwak dong Yeon said, "To be honest, I avoid variety shows because I'm scared. On 'Radio Star', I couldn't resist and picked Kim So Hyun as my ideal type, and since then, it's been portrayed as if I like Kim So Hyun and it created misunderstandings. I was also hurt a lot [on variety shows]. Nothing is promised on variety shows, so I'm afraid of sudden situations. I don't know what questions I'll be asked so I might make a verbal mistake, and I also don't have confidence in terms of humor."

He further explained, "For 'I Live Alone', I told my label that I don't want to go on it at first. It was unfamiliar to think that many people will be watching my daily life. But I was told that they will simply film my day and air it after editing so that's how I got to be on it. I'll go on variety shows that I can enjoy without making mistakes, but the ones where I have to create stories are hard."
