John Park was asked a difficult question by DJ Kim Shin Young on the July 15 broadcast of 'Kim Shin Young's Noon Song of Hope.'
Kim Shin Young started off easy, asking the singer, "You released an album on the same day as Eric Nam. Are you guys close?" John Park replied, "We're very close. We cheer each other on for things like live broadcasts. I didn't get to call him today but I plan to call him later."
Kim Shin Young then threw a toughie at John Park, questioning him, "Among gyopos / Korean Americans, you used to be the most popular. But nowadays, it feels like Eric Nam is trending more. How do you feel about that?"

John Park answered dismissively, "I don't mind it much. Because I personally don't like the gyopo image. I just want [people] to regard me in a normal manner. To fans, I want to be known simply as 'ballad John Park.'"
Kim Shin Young joked, "Dongpo (another word for Korean diaspora overseas). What do you think about dongpo?"
