On June 28, the agency announced it had formally filed 14 lawsuits in Chinese court against companies that are supporting the three "former" EXO members' promotions in China. Following SME's 9 cases in 2015, a total of 14 cases have been filed this year. SME has stated it's taking legal action as they've infringed upon the interest of EXO.
The label further restated that it considers Kris, Luhan, and Tao's activities in China as illegal violations of their contracts as SME artists. SME also stated the lawsuits are intended to mature the culture of both countries as well as to confirm the importance of intellectual property and contracts.
