[Updated with CCTV footage]
Another case of a 'don't ask' assault, in which someone randomly attacks another for no reason and without knowing that person, has occurred, much like the previous case in a which a teenage boy attacked a woman in the elevator with a rock. However, this time, the woman was unfortunately unable to flee and survive.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station revealed on May 17 that they were currently investigating 34-year-old Mr. Kim for murder. The body of a 23-year-old woman was found in the bathroom of a building with three floors in Seocho earlier that day. She had been stabbed to death multiple times.
The police watched the CCTV and discovered that Mr. Kim had entered the building at 11:42 PM the previous night and left right after the crime took place at around 1:05 AM. Mr. Kim is revealed to be an employee at the building where the crime took place. It appears that Mr. Kim hid in the building for about an hour and a half with a weapon he had stolen from the kitchen of a nearby restaurant before following the victim into the bathroom on the landing between the first and second floor and killing her there.

The victim, who was a regular office worker, had been drinking with her boyfriend in the pub on the first floor before heading up to go to the bathroom. At around 1:25 AM, her boyfriend discovered her body and she was moved to the hospital, where she ultimately passed away. The police was tracking Mr. Kim, who had made a getaway, and discovered him in the vicinity of the scene of the crime at around 10 AM. He had the weapon on his person.
After six hours of denying he committed the crime, Mr. Kim confessed. Regarding his motive, Mr. Kim simply and vaguely said, "Women always disregarded me," and revealed that he had not known the woman he'd murdered at all.
A rep from the police station stated, "We plan to commission an autopsy of the victim and to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. Kim. We are also in discussion over having a profiler in order to find out the exact details of the crime, like whether there was a delusion of persecution."
