One marketing startup is receiving much flak for its controversial job posting which listed "C-cup sized beauty" as one of the requirements.
The budding marketing company, which was seeking an intern to add to their team, had listed the typical qualifications necessary in the working world, such as "strong sense of responsibility" and "marketing and social media aptitude." However, the company had also included some atypical, problematic qualifications, including "must be over C-cup" and "possess both beauty and brains."
Then the company claimed they don't "discriminate based on nationality, educational background, gender, or age," and shared an image of actress Yoo In Na, declaring that she is the ideal candidate they seek in terms of looks.
In an interview with The Hankyoreh, a worker of the startup explained, "As we are a small startup, there were no applicants so the president said [if we write our job posting like this] then we will get more clicks. And more views and traffic. The other employees thought this was wrong. On our previous job posting, we wrote, 'a free, nonrestrictive environment,' but no one applied so I think that's why the president resorted to this."
The president also gave his own reasoning, saying, "If someone possesses sexual appeal, anyone would be attracted to that person. I think it's better if an applicant also has those qualities besides job-related skills. Personally, I don't think it's an issue but I think our country's sentiment towards that view is negative. I apologize for stirring up a social concern."
We can only hope that this was some terrible joke...
