On Olive TV's 'Avatar Chef' on December 23, Eric Nam appeared as a guest and tried his hand in becoming an avatar chef. When asked if he had cooked since he was eight years old, he replied in the positive, explaining, "When my youngest sibling was born, I cooked seaweed soup for my mother." In Korean, it is traditional to give seaweed soup to a mother after giving birth to help her recovery process. It is henceforth given to a person on his or her birthday every year like a birthday cake.

People were impressed with hearing this, and then Chef Kim So Hee looked at Eric Nam's hands and said, "You're still far [from being a chef]. Your fingers are all stuck together. You haven't even been cut or stabbed, so what do you mean you cooked a lot?" making everyone laugh.
