South Korea is a developed country that is inching towards becoming an economic powerhouse; however, there are many social issues that ensnare the modern-day Korea, one of the more pressing of them being equality of the sexes.

According to the 2015 World Economic Forum (WEF) report titled 'The Global Gender Gap Report,' South Korea was ranked 115th place out of a total 145 countries in terms of gender equality.
The rankings were based on a total of four categories, including economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment. Looking at the list, one will notice that Korea falls way behind, even ranking below underdeveloped nations.
