Will E-Sens be able to make a comeback?

E-Sens

As of today, we all know of E-Sens as that "rapper guy who got caught for smoking weed three times." But it wasn't always like that. E-Sens was one of Korea's leading hip-hop lyricist, producer, and rapper who gained his respect and popularity since his underground years.

His rap narrated the everyday life of a common individual through his poetic wordplay and slick lines, revealing his humble and down to earth soul and poetic sensitivity. Even today, rappers would hands down point out E-Sens from the pool of hip-hop artists that exist currently and say that he was one of the best.

It was in November 2011 when things started plummeting downhill for E-Sens. At that time, he admitted to having smoked and purchased weed from 2009 to August 2011. Then in September 2014, he again made headlines for smoking weed in a parking lot with a friend, and in November of the same year he was caught buying 500 grams of weed with other college students.

Remarkably enough, E-Sens was able to gain respect by releasing multiple tracks such as "You Can't Control Me," "Sleep Tight," and "Back In Time" from 2011 to 2015. Hip-hop fans on Youtube commented, "Though what he did was wrong and illegal, you can't ignore his talent in rapping." And everything about that statement is painfully true. Though many were left disappointed, Korean hip-hop fans are still waiting for his next album, 'The Anecdote,' with great desperation.

No one should ever advocate his irresponsible behavior, as he has indeed broken the law. And it isn't reasonable for anyone to compare the realistic situation of hip hop in America to Korea.

Currently, E-Sens is detained, waiting for the final judgement on his sentence. From where he stands, it is likely that he will face jail time, taking into consideration how strict South Korea is in regards to drug use. According to the media, E-Sens and his related sources are fully cooperating with the law by taking full responsibility for his actions.

It is still unclear of what will happen to E-Sens and where he will go following his sentence. However, it would be a great loss to the hip-hop community to lose such a talented and creative lyricist, producer, and a rapper. For him, even the title "genius" is an understatement.

Once he serves whatever sentence is handed down to him, do you think he should be allowed to return to the music industry and perform on public broadcast?
