This so-called 'JYJ Law,' which New Politics Alliance for Democracy's assemblywoman Choi Min Hee was a delegate for, failed to be approved by the Science, ICT, Future Planing, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee's law review subcommittee. Though the reviewers of the bill concurred with the amendment revisions, the bill was put on hold to be subject to continuous evaluation, as they felt additional revisions were necessary.
At the time, assemblywoman Choi stated, "JYJ, who was able to expose the provisions of a major label's slave contract and get ahold of a 'standard exclusive contract,' should no longer be at an unfair disadvantage. Since the Fair Trade Commission's (FTC) ruled that nontransparent interferences cannot be prohibited, we need the Korea Chamber of Commerce (KCC), who holds the necessary broadcast license, to intervene: that is why the revised bill was proposed."
