SINGLE REVIEW
NASTY NASTY got their nasty on with this sensual song on lust and attraction. There is a saxophone overlaying a dance beat the vibe reminds of Trouble Maker's, "There Is No Tomorrow." The vocals in this track are really smooth--the masculinity of Kevin's voice nicely offsets the two feminine vocals.
The lyrics were definitely more risque than most K-pop tracks I've listened to. With lines such as, "I'm sitting down but other parts of me are up," and, "Take off your clothes," they're definitely not sugar-coating any of the lyrics. As a fan of American rap and more, vulgar lyrics is nothing new to me, but something about these particular lyrics seem too much for me. I think it may be the combination of the back track and vocals with the lyrics whilst each individual component is fine, the combination sounds a little slimy.
Overall, they (as a group) have potential but I'm not a huge fan of this song with a theme and sound that has been way overdone.
MV REVIEW
As for the music video, I loved the lighting and color grading. However, again, this video was nothing out of the ordinary. The story line--if there was one--was difficult to follow. All of the scenes from the joy ride to the screen playing old videos of a happy couple and the tub scene were compiled into a video that fell short on artistic originality.
In addition, I feel like the dance moves were just too blatantly sexual. There was no subtlety or artistic vision in a girl spreading her legs and squatting up and down. Thus, while it wasn't painful to watch, I was definitely not impressed.
As previously mentioned, overall, they have potential but I've always liked this quote about potential: "Potential is nothing, execution is everything."
