Singer and TV personality Shin Jung Hwan has been belatedly revealed to have potentially committed fraud. He allegedly accepted 100 million won (~ 100,000 USD) from the parents of a celebrity aspirant back in 2010, promising to help promote their son except plans fell through when he was caught up with his illegal gambling scandal. Although the parents recently filed a complaint with the police about this case, it has now been revealed that they have decided to withdraw their complaint for unknown reasons.
Before Shin Jung Hwan's gambling scandal was disclosed to the public, he apparently met up with the parent of 24-year-old "A", who wanted to become a celebrity. From that parent, Shin Jung Hwan first received 20 million won (~ 20,000 USD), and then was later paid 80 million won (~ 80,000 USD) through his bank account. After receiving a total of 100 million won (~ 100,000 USD), he promised the parent, "I will train your son so that he can come out on TV. I will let him appear in the variety programs of which I am in charge."

However, a few months later, the fact of his illegal gambling became known to the public, and he was placed under arrest in June, 2011. The parents of "A" called Shin Jung Hwan multiple times to remind him of their deal. However, every time, Shin Jung Hwan said, "It would be too difficult because of my gambling situation."
The parents of "A" continued contacting Shin Jung Hwan, but as the promise was never fulfilled and they were never given their money back, they recently filed a complaint against him with the police. However, it has been reported that 'A' and his parents have now withdrawn their complaint for unknown reasons.
The police have revealed that will be trying to find out exactly why the complaint has been retracted. Furthermore, they will also be investigating into this whole matter and Shin Jung Hwan, despite the withdrawal of the complaint.
